About Us
The laboratory specialises in crown and bridge, with a special interest in Emax and Zirconia crowns and implant restorations. A range of other services are also available, all completed and finished to the highest standard.

Colin started working in a dental laboratory in 2003, starting with an apprenticeship as a Dental Technician. He completed his BTEC National Diploma in Dental Technology in 2007 with a triple grade merit.
Wanting to gather as much experience and expertise as possible, he spent the next three years working in different dental laboratories, during which time he specialised in metal ceramic and full ceramic techniques, biomechanical occlusion, inlay and onlay techniques, the Emax technique and implant prosthetics.
He then set up Dental FX Studios in late 2010, which was orientated towards functional aesthetic restorations, and his core speciality remains as aesthetics and ceramics.
Colin prides himself on running a laboratory that provides premium quality labwork for dental practices across the country, and regularly attends courses and conferences to better his knowledge and understanding, and to keep up to date with all the latest techniques and modern advances in dental technology.
Digital Technology
In early 2018, Dental FX Studios opted to invest in 3D scanning and printing technology and as a result, the laboratory now includes a state-of-the-art Renishaw blue light scanner and 3D printer, wash and cure units. We have also been added to the list of accredited iTero partner labs. STL files from a range of 3D scanners can now be uploaded and received by the lab and using EXOCAD software, we have the ability to design complex crown and long-span bridge cases, assess occlusion, build a digital wax-up for prospective cases and provide feedback to our clients on any potential difficulties or issues with their cases.
The introduction of this latest technology has not only enabled us to stay up-to- date with recent developments in the dental world, but has allowed us to produce more accurate and hard-wearing resin models, increase productivity and also improve our turnaround times for practices that would usually use our postal service.

Crown and bridge / Implant crown and bridge
Our crown and bridge work ranges from simple non-precious restorations to high quality, natural-looking all-ceramic restorations and everything in between. Metals used include titanium, cobalt chrome alloy, precious metal and high gold content alloy as per your request – most importantly, all products are free from nickel.
We pride ourselves on our natural and beautifully aesthetic implant restorations. We work with all brands of implant systems, and use zirconia to provide a stunning and lifelike finish. We can accommodate a full range of implant crown & bridge services from single screw/cement retained implant crowns to implant-retained multiple unit bridges. We use the latest technology in digital dentistry to design our restorations and to ensure they are completed to the highest level of accuracy.
